The Playwright:
Soon after Nicolas Billon's first play, The Elephant Song, fell into the hands of Richard Monette, the then-Artistic Director of the Stratford Festival of Canada wasted no time in scheduling the play in the Festival's 2004 season, where it received it's world premiere. The Elephant Song was subsequently produced at Montreal's Theatre D'Aujourd'hui, in a French translation by the playwright. Nicolas' second play, The Measure of Love, was produced at Stratford in 2005. Last year, he adapted Chekhov's Three Sisters for the Soulpepper Theatre Company in Toronto.

"The Elephant Song" is a dark, savagely funny three-hander about amental patient, a psychiatrist and a nurse. Crisply written, it hasechoes of Edward Albee's "The Zoo Story", or perhaps something by Harold Pinter."- Michael Posner, The Globe & Mail

"The Elephant Song" could be the start of a major career. It certainlyshows an unusual poise and sense of theatricality...Robert Crew, The Toronto Star
