It's 1983, and Benji Weitz, with eviction notice in hand, packs up the lower east side storefront that has been his business and his home for his entire life. Taking one last look around “DR. RADIO’S- Repair Shop,” Benji turns on his trusted, long time companion, a 1942 Grunow RCA Radio one last time. What happens next is radio comedy, mysterious history, and a whacky musical ride. Benji’s radio play tells the story of hidden treasure, the meringue, futurology, haunted spirits, and of course greed, with lots of great songs and an unlikely romance. We learn, with laughter and tears, why Benji just can’t seem to leave his beloved repair shop… and why he must.
